In this 5 Minute Sales Tip, Paul G. Walmsley shares observations from the sales floor he works on. One of the biggest mistake he hears is salespeople spending too much time explaining and educating and not enough time actually asking for the order. Stop Explaining & Ask For The Order. Many sales people feel it is so important to build rapport, come across as knowledgeable, an authority and smart. Then, suddenly, the thought of actually asking for the order scares them, because, after all, what happens if the prospect says no? Suddenly they’ve lost a friend.
Please remember, no matter how you slice it or dice it, if you have your own small business, if you are an entrepreneur or if you are a network marketing professional….you are in sales. Too many people want to shirk away from the responsibility of being in sales and the mask it with sayings such as, “I’m not in sales, all I do is share and sort.” Or this one, “I’m not in sales, I’m a problem solver.” Yeah, right.
If people are not taking out their credit card and running it through your business, you will not earn any money. Period.
So stop dancing around the subject. Stop educating. Stop explaining. Stop Explaining & Ask For The Order. Ask for the order 5 times and go down swinging!
Don’t forget, go ahead an order Paul’s Amazon Best Selling Book, “From Hello To Yes In 3 Minutes Or Less.” Learn how to overcome call reluctance, know exactly what to say and deal with rejection when using the telephone.
